# Setting Up Engage Filters

> Create company filters in FieldPulse Engage, assign them to specific users or the whole team, and set how filtering and sorting behave across views.

> **Who uses this:** Admins — company filters and the filter settings live on the Engage Filters page in Engage Settings. **Availability:** Requires the [Engage](https://www.fieldpulse.com/features/engage) add-on.

When every dispatcher builds their own way of finding missed calls, nobody sees the same list. Company filters let an Admin build the filters once in [Engage](https://www.fieldpulse.com/features/engage), hand them to the right people, and decide whether team members can build filters of their own.

## Overview

Engage lets Admins create custom filters and assign them to specific users or the entire team. From the same page, an Admin controls whether team members can build their own filters, whether an active filter carries across the Conversations, Calls, and Voicemails views, whether urgent items jump to the top, and whether items outside a filter stay visible in a collapsed section. For how team members use the filters you assign, see [How to Filter and Sort Conversations, Calls, and Voicemails](/add-ons/engage/filters-sorting).

## Before you begin

* You need the Admin role. All filter configuration lives on the Engage Filters page.

* Go to **Engage Settings**, then select the **Filters** tab to open the Engage Filters page.

## Step-by-step setup

### Create a company filter

1. Select **Create Filter** to open the filter panel.

2. Select the filter categories and options you want the filter to apply.

3. Enter a **Filter Name**. This field is required.

4. Choose a **Filter Access** level:

   * **Private** — applies only to your Admin account.

   * **Assign to all users** — makes the filter a Saved Filter for everyone in the company.

   * **Assign to specific users** — lets you choose which users receive the filter.

5. Select **Save**. The filter appears in the **Company Filters** table.

### Edit or delete a company filter

* To edit a filter, select **Edit** next to it in the Company Filters table. Your changes cascade automatically to every user the filter is assigned to.

* To delete a filter, select the trash icon and confirm.

<Note>
  Admin-created filters appear with a locked icon for team members, which shows they cannot edit them. Admins see a trash icon instead.
</Note>

## Settings reference

The settings below control how filtering works across your team. All of them are on the Engage Filters page.

| **Setting**                                     | **If Yes**                                                                                                                                           | **If No**                                                                                                                            |
| ----------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Enable custom filters for all team members** | All users can create and save their own filters from the main Engage screens. Their filters are private and do not appear in Engage Filter Settings. | Users cannot create their own filters. They can still enable or disable any filters you have assigned to them, but cannot edit them. |
| **Apply selected filter to all views** | The active filter applies across Conversations, Calls, and Voicemails at the same time. | Filters apply only to the tab where they are selected. Users can have a different filter active on each tab. |
| **Prioritize missed calls and unread messages** | Unread messages and missed calls appear at the top of the list or section automatically. | Items appear in the order set by the Sort By option. |
| **Display Unfiltered Results** | Results split into two sections: one for filtered results, named after the active filter, and a collapsed "Unfiltered Results" section below it. | Only items that match the filter are shown. Nothing outside the filter's scope is displayed. |
