Price Tiers
Updated over 2 months ago

FieldPulse's Price Tiers offer a flexible way to manage customer-specific pricing by automatically applying markups or discounts based on customer categories. Whether you're rewarding loyal members with tiered discounts or offering wholesale pricing to frequent buyers, the system ensures consistent, tailored pricing. With simple setup and the ability to customize rates for individual items, Price Tiers streamline the pricing process, helping you maintain profitability while strengthening customer relationships.

Common Uses

  • Membership Discounts: Automatically apply discounts to loyal customers based on their membership tier (e.g., Bronze, Silver, Gold). This encourages repeat business and customer retention.

  • Wholesale Pricing: Offer discounted rates for customers who are wholesalers, resellers, or contractors who purchase regularly or in larger quantities, setting them in a special pricing tier.

  • Service Agreement Discounts: Automatically apply discounts for customers who have signed service agreements or contracts, ensuring they receive preferred rates for ongoing services.

  • Geographical Tiered Pricing: Automatically apply different pricing tiers based on the customer’s location, reflecting different costs of labor, materials, or travel expenses across regions.

  • Manufacturer-Recommended Markups: Some manufacturers provide suggested retail prices or recommended markup percentages to ensure service providers maintain consistent profit margins. You can set up price tiers to automatically apply these recommended markups for specific products or services based on the manufacturer's guidelines.

Getting Started

To begin using Price Tiers, you'll first need to enable it. Start by clicking on Company Settings and selecting Features & Plugins. Navigate to Price Tiers and select Enable.

Click on Enable

Next, click into Settings on the Price Tiers icon. Now you're ready to begin creating and assigning price tiers!

Building Price Tiers

To create a new price tier, click Add New Pricing Tier. (Note: Price tier names aren’t visible to customers, they are for internal use only.)

There are two different ways to apply pricing adjustments:

  • Item Price Range: Specify markups or discounts based on the price or cost of an item.

  • Flat Markup or Discount: Apply an exact percentage markup or discount to all items for a customer in that tier.

For both options, FieldPulse will apply the adjusted pricing on each line item on estimates, invoices, and flat-rate jobs.

After saving a price tier, you can then apply it to an existing customer on their customer record, or select the price tier when creating a new customer.

Overriding Price Tiers

If needed, you can override the price tier defaults on line items in your item list. When viewing a line item, FieldPulse will display all price tiers and their respective prices based on your configuration under Pricing Options. If desired, you can override the price tier settings for this item only. Click on the arrow in the price tier where you'd like to make a change, then adjust the markup/discount percentage, as well as select whether it should be applied on the unit cost or unit price. (Note: This will not change the settings for your entire price tier, but only adjust the settings for this specific line item.)
