Who uses this: Admins — self-imports run in the FieldPulse Web App, and the FieldPulse team handles Company Settings imports and Data Migrations. Availability: All regions. Self-import and accounting integrations are included with your subscription; Data Migration is a paid service.
FieldPulse gives you three ways to bring your existing records in — import them yourself for free with a template, sync them from a connected accounting integration, or have a FieldPulse Data Engineer migrate them for you as a paid service. The right choice depends on the record type you’re moving and how that data is formatted today.

Overview

Every record type comes into FieldPulse through one of three paths, and you can mix them — for example, sync customers from your accounting integration while importing jobs from a template.
  • Self-import (free) — Download the template for the record type you’re moving, add your data, and upload the file in the FieldPulse Web App. Included with your subscription at no extra cost.
  • Accounting integration — Connect QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, or Xero, and supported records sync over automatically. Included with your subscription at no extra cost.
  • Data Migration (paid) — A FieldPulse Data Engineer scopes your data and migrates it for you, typically during onboarding and training.

Which method covers each record type

Use this table to see which method is available for each record type. Yes means the record type comes in through that method. Yes, via support means the FieldPulse team runs the import for you. means that method does not bring in that record type.
Data Migration can bring in every record type marked in the table above, but all data requires scoping first to confirm it’s compatible with the FieldPulse platform.

Before you begin

  • Check the table above to confirm which method covers the record type you’re moving.
  • Export your existing records from your current system to Excel, Google Sheets, or CSV so you can copy each column into the matching column of the FieldPulse template.
  • If you don’t have Excel, use Google Sheets — see How to Self-Import Data With Google Sheets.

Self-import with a FieldPulse template

Self-import is free and runs in the FieldPulse Web App. Download the template for the record type you’re moving, enter your data, and upload the completed file.

Import a record type yourself

  1. Download an import template. Open the import screen for the record type you’re moving and download its template.
  2. Enter your data. Type your records into the template, or — if you have an export from your previous provider — copy each column into the matching column on the FieldPulse sheet. Keep the column headers as they are so the importer can read your data.
  3. Upload the completed file in the FieldPulse Web App.
For the full steps on each record type, see How to Import Customers, How to Import Jobs, How to Import Your Item List, and How to Import Serialized Inventory.

Import your Company Settings

Company Settings come in through the FieldPulse team rather than a self-service upload. Reach out through live chat or email support@fieldpulse.com and let the team know you want to import your Company Settings. The team works with you to fill out the import sheet, then imports it for you.

Sync from an accounting integration

Connect QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, or Xero to FieldPulse, and your customers, line items, estimates, invoices, and payments sync over automatically. For setup instructions, see the guide for your accounting platform:

Data Migration by a FieldPulse Data Engineer

Data Migration is a paid service. If you’re moving from another platform and don’t want to manage the import yourself, the FieldPulse Data Engineering team migrates your data for you. Migrations typically run during onboarding and training. Most migrations finish within 4–6 weeks. Once the engineers review a sample of your data, they give you an exact timeline. Still need help?

Reach the FieldPulse support team at support@fieldpulse.com or through the chat feature in the bottom-right corner of your screen. Your data is in when every record type you’re moving has a path — uploaded from a template, syncing from your accounting integration, or scoped with a FieldPulse Data Engineer — and those records appear in your FieldPulse account.
